Although Covid-19 brought the cancellation of both the Indy 500 and the Le Mans 24 hrs, we
would like to make up for it and organize an event online. Let’s see how we have it planned:

Things you need to get:

  • rFactor2:
  • La Sarthe Circuit:
  • Endurance Pack:
  • DPi Modpack: If the server auto download won’t work, install manually:

Available cars:
Similarly to WEC, 3 categories are allowed to participate:

  • The top class of the competition will be the DPi (Daytona Prototype international). From
2022 onwards, the fastest category of the real life championship is going to be the LMDh
that shall be using the modified versions of the LMP2 chassis and be run by self-
produced engines. The Dpi class was born on the same line of thoughts, and teams will be
able to choose from 3 cars: Mazda, Cadillac & Acura. The BoP of the cars are made with Standard Aero Pack, so the use of Low Drag Aero Pack will be forbidden.
  • The middle category will be the already existing LMP2 (Le Mas Prototype 2). Though in
real WEC there are 3 different car brands in this category, the Endurance mod limits us to
only to use the Oreca 07 car.
  • Finally, participants may also choose the GTE (Grand Tour Endurance) category. We
expect the highest number of competitors in this class (formerly known as GT2), and the
cars to choose from will be: the BMW M8, the Porsche 911, and the Corvette C7.
Though both the Aston Martin Vantage GTE and the Ferrari 488 GTE are available for
rFactor2, due to the price of these DLCs we do not make it compulsory to buy them,
    therefore they cannot be chosen.

Teams are allowed to use customized liveries on their cars, provided that they finish these
liveries by 24.06.2020. and make them publicly accessible.

Construction of teams:
We are talking about a race that lasts 6 hours. We really would like to give you a pleasant driving experience, with a good etap. Each team must consist of minimum 2, maximum 3 participants. The minimum and
maximum durations of driving shall be the following:

Number of driversMin. driving time per personMax. driving time per person
2 drivers2 hours4 hours
3 drivers1,5 hours3 hours

To protect participants and the server, a maximum of 45 cars may enter, and we would need atleast 24 cars to organize the event. It is also important for us to keep all categories as equally competitive as possible, so none of the classes may have more than 12 cars. If one of the categories ends up with very low numbers of racers, we may distribute those free spaces among the other two classes.

Carrying out the event:
Ground Effect aims at organizing the virtual Le Mans 6 Hrs in a format that is as
similar to the real life event as possible, also not making it too complicated. To avoid any
misunderstanding, please read the information below very carefully!

  • Qualifying (27.06.2020.) – online live stream – 15:00 CET
Qualifying will be held on the afternoon before the race. On the event
the teams will have 2 hours to set their laptimes in evening conditions. We will combine the results of the teams and register the best times from each one. It is not compulsory for all team members to be present, but from each team at least two drivers must participate and run a lap.
  • Race (28.06.2020.) – online live stream – 15:00 CET
At 3 o’clock, the grid lines up behind the Pace Car and shall start the race. From each
team, the driver who set the fastest lap must start the race. Weather will be set dry for the
race, you do not need to prepare for rainy conditions. Judges will follow the events on the
server, so if needed, instant disqualification may also happen. The winner shall be the car
that runs the most laps by the time the 6 hours expire, and crosses the finish line first.
Differences at the start will not be taken into consideration.
